I've been trying to blog in the evening after I come inside, so bear with me as I try to get caught up with what's been going on in your life. I've missed you!
I've been cleaning out coops and stalls the last few days to try to keep the flies at a minimum. (And no, it doesn't seem to be working.) We bought this barn fan last year at Tractor Supply-
We really couldn't afford it, but Daisy and Edie would have really suffered through last years' horrible heat without it.
In my beds-
I can almost taste the jelly!
We are already having to water everything... I've been watering my raised beds every day. Hubby ran a soaker hose to the beans Tuesday night, and today they look so much better. I'm praying for a good shower... but the weather man says nothing in sight for the next 7 days. We need rain!
And finally.... some pictures of my "pout house"! This was when it was still a chicken coop-
This is now!
I still have to fix up around it with some lattice and landscaping, and Hubby needs to build a step, but we are finished for now- we ran out of money on closing in the side walls, so they will have to stay open for a little while longer. Yay! I can move in!
It is dry here too. And hot! I like your pout house-neat.
ReplyDeleteWe missed you too! Pout house looks great. Know what you mean about rain, too much or in our case too little!
ReplyDeleteThat sure is a mighty cool little retreat - love the little Pout House.
ReplyDeleteOh, Paula, I love your pout house. It is just too cute!
ReplyDeleteI can empathize with you over the heat and humidity. Here in northeast Texas, it gets awfully hot and humid, too. Ugh. I generally hibernate during the summer, getting out early or late, but spending the better part of the days indoors under a ceiling fan-no fun, but I'm thankful for the fans and a/c.
OH! I just love the way your little house is coming along! It's good to hear from you again!
ReplyDeleteI love the pout house. I have to go out and pout with the chickens when need be.
ReplyDeleteAnd talking about HOT! It is 98 degrees here today. We are having to run water to the garden today too. We hope after it cools off this evening to give the garden a drink of cool water.
Stay cool, glad you're back but I know what you mean about getting out and early to beat the heat.
That is so darned cute. He is a handy man.....
ReplyDeleteWe love strawberry--everything!
Thanks for coming over to the giveaway---good luck! I'm pulling for you!
BIG (((HUGS)))
I adore your pout house too, Will you have a vintage screen door on it? I just got a screen door to pull over the glass door and I am soooo happy! It got to 102 and yes I just took a photo of the thermometer on the door. SO, I canonly have the door open to hear the birds early and late days.
ReplyDeleteWhat did we do before air conditioning?
I wish I had a farm and a barm, I have sure outgrown our garden home.
I will watch your blog for my therapy, LOL!
smiles, cyndi
PS: I do have strawberries growing in with my mint. I thought they were for the birds!
Hey, I will go pick them!
That pout house will be perfect for a gardening shed. I am jealous you have strawberries. We have 20 plants that I've yet to put in the ground.
ReplyDeleteWe will send some rain you way, we have had quite bit up here in Maine.
Have a nice weekend, Kim
so good to have you post again, and hope you get some rain soon..our weather has been really weird...yesterday it was overcast, cool (50)and windy, today warm and sunny..in the 80s.
ReplyDeleteYour little pout house looks great!
Hi Paula, I have missed your posting! I just love how your pout house is coming along! I can relate about the heat, it won't start getting that hot here until July, in June we have June Gloom...we have had a couple days of 100 degrees but it didn't last long!
ReplyDeleteLove, Ann
Glad your back Paula!
ReplyDeleteLove the new Pout house:)
We spent a week in the Smokey's over Christmas one year. Are you near that area in Eastern Tenn? It's a beautiful area!
I miss the hot and humid midwestern weather. Maine is getting rain. We need it though for those gardens! Take Care Paula
Hey girl,,,
ReplyDeleteYour retreat day spa is darling!! ha... that's what I would call any place I could get away and work with plants alone!
You and I have a TON in common! I agree that we are twins separated at birth! (we will just use your birthday) (wink wink)
Love the Pout House!
ReplyDeleteHope your weekend is wonderful,
Pam
Hi Paula! We are having rain today, which is great, except for the humidity! Your pout house is looking great. Like you, I try to get outside early~but usually I'm still there during the heat.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
R~Mary
I LOVE your pout house! It's so charming!
ReplyDeleteYour picture of the strawberry made my mouth water for one!
The humidity here is awful too! I've been doing the same thing...blogging late at night actually...because of the busy days...and time at the pool of course!
Have a great weekend!
Tammy
Hey Farm chicky,
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see your Pouthouse! Love it! I always wanted to add a lean to onto thee olde potting shed, but now have roses, and snowball bushes growing everywhere, and also wisteria, so... looks like I will someday just have to build ANOTHER pottin shed. haaa Yours is adorable.
HOpe your baby chicks are doing good. Give thee sheep a carrot for me.
Lea
<*)))><
Hi Paula! So glad your back, I too have not posted for a while. I really need to set a time when I can get on and off. I get carried away reading and put my housework and garden work in the back burner. Not a good thing.
ReplyDeleteLove your pout house, it looks so cute.
Irma :)
The pout house looks great. It is hot here too. If we don't water the garden would not survive here. It is SUMMER!
ReplyDeleteI love love love your pout house!!! Too cute! I have never heard it called that. What exactly does it mean? LOL But i DO love it!
ReplyDeleteMy mom bought that same fan for my dad's garage from tractor supply! LOL
I know what you mean though...we have 2 ACs going in the upstairs of our house...and our house is small..but i am still afraid of the cost! But the heat is sooo unbearable!
I hope you have a wonderful week ahead Paula!!! :)
Paula, what a wonderful pout house! It is perfect just the way it is.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for praying for Colton and for asking others to pray as well. He is doing so well. I just posted a new happy photo of him if you get a chance to stop by.
My husband came home with a Rhode Island Red Rooster named Sherman. I just love him. I am trying to hold him and pet him everyday. He is just a juvenile and doesn't yet have his crow. I'm so excited!
Nice to be back to visit. Your blog is such a happy place!
Smiles,
Lea
Hi Paula, I just love your little house! Good to see you back! blessings,Kathleen
ReplyDeleteYouve certainly been missed my new blogging buddy. Youve got alot of changes going on in your life.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me what an pout house is...sounds as if I could use one here w/ all the poutin I do!
It is adoreable...hang in there, and no more playing blogging hookey! prim blessings, scaredy Kat
Your "pout house" is gorgeous, but I have to say it once made a fancy, shmancy hen house too. My chickens would be jealous! I will not be letting them see the pics.
ReplyDeleteWe have had 2 days in a row of our summer thunderstorms. I heard the corn and tomatoes cheering! I hope it's a pattern that's here to stay.
Wonderful job on the pouthouse and I also wonder about the origin of the name - hot here but that is normal for North Texas in the summer. We had a tiny cool front move through yesterday - but it'll be back up to the 90's by noon. Your fan is wonderful - flies are on my list of not favorite things. With goats we can't use most of the antifly products you can put on cows and horses - so they just suffer and roll on the dirt to scratch the itchies! Thanks for dropping by my place - those bottle babies are so fickle!
ReplyDeleteI've been knockin' on your door every day wondering where you were!!!! So glad to see you back. That Pout house is just the cutest! I'm sure those rascals will be happy campers in there. We went through a horribly hot, dry spell, but the past few days have gotten those afternoon showers. Hope it continues for a while.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting my blog and for your sweet comments. Your prayers are so much appreciated!!!!!
Cora
I love you pout house! It's a great remodel. The strawberries look delish.I'm trying to find a large enough area to grow some. Of course I want enough to make jam, pies, and freeze some. I'm thinking about vertical plantings. I'm a first time visitor, nice blog. Thanks
ReplyDeleteDebbie
You are right I have been extremely busy with all of my new babies. Potty training alone is a chore but Bandit is doing great. The chickens are changing so much everyday. I love your little pout house. It is so cute with the sides it looks cottagey. I love it. I can almost taste the jelly too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day
Roxy
Is pout house really the appropriate name? It looks like a cozy retreat to rejuvenate your spirit! (I do think the name is very cute).
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of strawberries. How big is your patch? Do you have to protect it from birds, etc.? Maybe I'll follow your lead and plant some.
Paula - just saw your name over on Linda's giveaway and thought I'd pop over and say "hi"! My cousin's name is Paula, and every time we'd all be together at family functions, when we were younger, someone would yell for either her or I - and we never knew which one we wanted P-a-u-l-a or K-a-r-l-a!
ReplyDeleteMade me chuckle today!
Cute blog - even cuter "pout house"!
Have a great week!
Karla

ReplyDeleteLooks like your pout house turned out nicely!
We are cleaning out our coop because our chicks are (FINALLY!!!) coming next week. Check for pics next week ;-)
Just wanted to let you know that I added you to my list of favorite blogs.
ReplyDeleteCome on by!
Laura
I love the pout house! The humidity here in Georgia keeps rising until the afternoon sky just can't take it anymore and bursts with rain.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a wonderful day and continued blessings!
Lacy
I am not a farm girl, what is a pout house? I want to say it sounds like you go out there to pout when you don't get your way, but it must be something more than that. At any rate, I love what you have done with it. I would love to have my own garden shed outside.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute pout house. Did you make up the term pout house, or is that a term widely used (it's new to me).
ReplyDeleteHere in California you could rent out your pout house. Ha ha!
It is dry here too; fires are burning 15 miles away.
