I'm finishing up some mending in my sewing room today and then will tidy up around the house tomorrow- Hubby is taking off from work Friday so we can go to the big Farm Show in Louisville, Kentucky. Hubby can't wait to get there to see all the new equipment and tractors. (Not that we're buying anything... just looking.) Hubby is also really excited about taking his new truck, and since Louisville is about a 4 hour drive one way for us, this will be a nice road trip. Yes, I said "new truck".... he was having some major problems out of "old red" a couple of months ago, so we went shopping for a newer one. We soon found out that with the year end rebates and the dealers wanting to make room for the 2009 models, we were able to afford a new one- a 2008 model- and it was actually cheaper than buying one that was 2 or 3 years old. (I'll post a picture of it soon.)
We're supposed to be getting some bad thunderstorms later this afternoon- the same one that brought the tornado to Oklahoma last night. My thoughts are with those who lost loved ones last night. I'm hoping the storm weakens before it gets here.... the wind has been blowing so hard here since about 4:00 this morning and my Corinthian Bell chimes have been playing a tune for me all morning. I love my wind chimes, but I do hope the wind calms down soon. When the weather is mild like it is right now, (around 60 degrees) I love having the windows open in the morning so I can hear the birds chirping and all my roosters crowing. I can also hear Smokey barking if anything comes around. Usually this time of morning deer will jump the fence around our field and head for the woods across the road, which tears Smokey up to no end. He always chases them, even after the unfortunate "standoff incident"...
Here is a picture I thought you might enjoy.... this is Whitey and Ruthie sunbathing on the back deck this past Sunday when it was 70 degrees.
(And no, they're not dead- even though they might be if they don't quit scratching my mulch out into the yard....)
Enjoy your trip to Louisville...I've never been there, but I've heard it's a beautiful place! We're supposed to be getting thunderstorms later today, too. Hope and pray it's nothing of the magnitude that OK. got! So tragic!

When I saw that picture of your chickens my heart went thump before I read they were only sun bathing, I thought they were dead!

ReplyDeleteAll your chickens need is 2 little pillows :O) I had a bluebird come and lay down like that twice last spring on my front porch. He wasn't sick because I snapped a picture of him and then he flew off to his nest and I saw him again later. Sometimes I guess it feels for them to stretch out too.
Anyway,,God bless you both on your trip and provide you with travel mercies there and home.

ReplyDeleteMY BFF's chicken lay like that but only in the very dry powdery dirt they have properly fluffed up! Looks like a fun trip ahead and we rode out the storms last night with no damage - truly sad about the folks in Oklahoma and trust you'll be fine also. Bless you - road trip - woo hoo!

I've been to the Farm Machinery Show in Louisville a couple of times now and it always amazes me the sophistication of the equipment now! Some of the cabs in the combines and whatnot are nicer than things I have in my HOUSE! Amazing!
