Fraker Farm's first lamb

I have a lovely head cold right now and it's 30 degrees and sleeting so I have no earthly business being outside.... but I cannot stay out of the barn and away from this little fellow....

Baby had him sometime during the night and we arrived at the barn to find him peeking at us from the corner of the lambing pen. He is the first lamb born here on the farm.
Thank goodness the temperature didn't drop as cold as it did the night before...

Momma and baby are doing fine.... Christmas came early for me this year!
Have a great weekend, everybody!

  2. Awww. Just yesterday my Anna was standing at the window wishing it was lambing season already. We sort of miss early lambing season and having them around at Christmas, instead now we use Dirt's Christmas vacation to get ready for them. They are just the sweetest things around aren't they? Congratulations on your first baby of the season!

  41. When my yo's had lambs in cold weather, I'd put wool sweaters on the lambs. I'd buy the sweaters at a thrift store and, if too large, would felt them smaller. They worked wonders and kept the lambs quite warm.
    Merry Christmas

  52. Paula-
Hope all are doing well! Your little lamb is a big boy now. Are you still sorting the silkies? Keep me in mind because I would really like to get some from you when they are ready and you are ready! With Christmas just around the corner, I know you are busy and we are as well! I just wanted to let you know that the molasses cookies were a great hit and now will become a holiday tradition here. Emily and I baked all day yesterday and as soon as those we out of the oven they were gone. With all the boys outside doing man stuff they were hungry and those cookies went fast. So we will bake more for Chirstmas and the recipe is so easy! They all called them gingerbread but we know that they are molasses. Even my nephew who eats very few things went out on a limb and tried them and now he wants more! Will post photos soon. Merry CHristmas!
