I took a little stroll yesterday afternoon and took a picture of the best smelling stuff on earth... Honeysuckle. I think this is the most beautiful fragrance God ever created. I love mowing around the fence row this time of year, because it's like having a gigantic Glade Plug-in for the great outdoors.The last few nights have been downright chilly here, with temperatures dipping down into the 40's. I've still been bringing Belle, Beau, and Cecil in at night until all their Silky feathers come in. It's so funny to see them in the morning looking back at you like, "well, are we going OUT or are we staying IN today?"
By the way, I'll be participating in Tour Tuesday tomorrow, so you'll get to see around my home! (I'd better start cleaning up the house now...) Heather at Simple Family Supper Lady invited me last week, but I couldn't get any decent pictures, so I'll be showing you around tomorrow. Be sure and stop by for a visit!

I love the honeysuckle, too...we have it growing in the backyard and by the mailbox...I love that smell. I discovered some blackberry vines growing close to the honeysuckle this morning; didn't realize we had any growing that close to the house!!

ReplyDeleteWe love the honeysuckle, too--have the vine growing up an old maple on the east side of the house and a huge shrub out on the west side of the garage. I can't believe how fast and beautiful this stuff is. Our vine blooms all summer long. The shrub- just massively about now.

ReplyDeleteAh, honeysuckle. The sweet scent always takes me back to my childhood, where it grew around us in such abundance you could get heady from the aroma. I miss it. :-)

I tried twice to post - something on blogger doesn't like me today - anyhow - I do believe the smell of honeysuckle is one of those blessings we get to remind us how we are loved. I plant my honeysuckle a ways from the house - the bees like it far too much! Looking forward to the Tuesday tour!

Hi Paula! Honeysuckle does smell heavenly! Still, it is a love/dislike very much relationship for me--it just takes over everything!! Your little Silkies are adorable! I think my little black hen has finally settled down (third times the charm) and is going to hatch out a few cuties for us! I'll keep you posted.

Love Honeysuckle also:) We have candles of that fragrance all over the house. I remember pulling the stem out of them when I was a little kid and sucking the juice out of them. We didn't miss a one! Can't wait to see the tour tomorrow. Have a good night

Pam, everywhere we go around here, we run into honeysuckled "pockets" of air. It's almost like you're dreaming, isn't it?

I love honeysuckle too. My grandmother had a large one in your east yard and it is still there today, under the care of my cousin who is now living in what used to be my grandparents' house. And, *joy of joys*, I found a lovely pink honeysuckle growing next to a white one out in the windbreak. How they got there is anyone's guess. We certainly didn't plant them there. I pruned them up last week and plan to let them continue growing on their own. The smell is heavenly!
