What's new for Monday?

I took a little stroll yesterday afternoon and took a picture of the best smelling stuff on earth... Honeysuckle. I think this is the most beautiful fragrance God ever created. I love mowing around the fence row this time of year, because it's like having a gigantic Glade Plug-in for the great outdoors.

The last few nights have been downright chilly here, with temperatures dipping down into the 40's. I've still been bringing Belle, Beau, and Cecil in at night until all their Silky feathers come in. It's so funny to see them in the morning looking back at you like, "well, are we going OUT or are we staying IN today?"

By the way, I'll be participating in Tour Tuesday tomorrow, so you'll get to see around my home! (I'd better start cleaning up the house now...) Heather at Simple Family Supper Lady invited me last week, but I couldn't get any decent pictures, so I'll be showing you around tomorrow. Be sure and stop by for a visit!

Lea at Farmhouse Blessings is having a great contest and give-a-way... she wants you to name her new Scarecrow...

And the winner will get this cute little prim bunny handmade by her!!

(Of course I am going to win this time, but you can enter anyway. LOL)

Good luck, everybody!

  1. I love the smell of honeysuckle too. Do you have Jasmine there? I love to smell it also.
    The chicks are looking great.
That scarecrow looks better than a picture Billy took of me this weekend after we worked all day outside. Haha
Can't wait to tour on tuesday with you. Have a good day.

  2. I love the honeysuckle, too...we have it growing in the backyard and by the mailbox...I love that smell. I discovered some blackberry vines growing close to the honeysuckle this morning; didn't realize we had any growing that close to the house!!
The chicks are so cute. I look forward to raising chickens some day. I've been trying to talk my husband into it....
Looking forward to the home tour...
    Have a wonderful Monday,

  4. Seems like the fragrance has been sweeter this year-I wonder if the plants are making up for the dry spell last year or maybe I'm just noticing more.

  5. We love the honeysuckle, too--have the vine growing up an old maple on the east side of the house and a huge shrub out on the west side of the garage. I can't believe how fast and beautiful this stuff is. Our vine blooms all summer long. The shrub- just massively about now.
I can't wait to see more of your home. I would love to be able to have you over for brunch or coffee or dinner. It would be like a reunion--we would have soooo much to talk about!
Have a great day and week.....

  6. First off, I love your wonderful front porch, oh how I want to sit there with you and drink coffee in the morning!
You reminded me to plant honeysuckle here on our hammock holder! I have been wondering which vine to plant and this one is perfect, smells divine and grows here like a weed! THANKS!!!!
    Have a beautiful day today!

  7. I also love honeysuckle and due to the cooler than normal weather it is still very fragrant here in N. FL.

  8. Ah, honeysuckle. The sweet scent always takes me back to my childhood, where it grew around us in such abundance you could get heady from the aroma. I miss it. :-)

  10. I tried twice to post - something on blogger doesn't like me today - anyhow - I do believe the smell of honeysuckle is one of those blessings we get to remind us how we are loved. I plant my honeysuckle a ways from the house - the bees like it far too much! Looking forward to the Tuesday tour!

  12. Hi Paula! Honeysuckle does smell heavenly! Still, it is a love/dislike very much relationship for me--it just takes over everything!! Your little Silkies are adorable! I think my little black hen has finally settled down (third times the charm) and is going to hatch out a few cuties for us! I'll keep you posted.

  15. Love Honeysuckle also:) We have candles of that fragrance all over the house. I remember pulling the stem out of them when I was a little kid and sucking the juice out of them. We didn't miss a one! Can't wait to see the tour tomorrow. Have a good night

  16. Hi Paula! Thanks for coming by. I just love the smell of honeysuckle and jasmine. I will need to plant them again. Hubby killed the ones I had. Not on purpose of course, so he says.

    The chicks are looking great.

Will come back tomorrow for your tour.

  18. Hi -- Stopped by for the first time and have to comment. (Apparently I'm not too shy.) I love the cute chicks! The honeysuckle you picture is not the same as here . . . in the Midwest. I'm guessing you're in the south? (The sweet tea is another clue.)

    Will be back. Ciao!

  19. Pam, everywhere we go around here, we run into honeysuckled "pockets" of air. It's almost like you're dreaming, isn't it?

Do you know if honeysuckled can be transplanted or rooted? We have it all over our property but none near the house. I sure would like to bring that fragrance to our garden.

Thanks for posting my contest. It has been so fun to read the creative names everyone has come up.

    Smiles,
    Lea

  20. I love honeysuckle too. My grandmother had a large one in your east yard and it is still there today, under the care of my cousin who is now living in what used to be my grandparents' house. And, *joy of joys*, I found a lovely pink honeysuckle growing next to a white one out in the windbreak. How they got there is anyone's guess. We certainly didn't plant them there. I pruned them up last week and plan to let them continue growing on their own. The smell is heavenly!

  21. Hi Paula...
I agree with you about HoneySuckle... it evokes so many wonderful childhood memories for me. We have a bunch of it near our front porch and when the breeze is just right... pure Heaven!
    Cute lil silkies, too!
