Apparently Hubby wanted to keep Labor Day weekend true to it's name, so we are in the process of staining the log siding on our house. (Which means pressure washing and scrubbing the mildew and old stain off with Clorox, then re-applying a new stain over the entire house.) Wouldn't you know, he picked one of the hottest weekends we've had in a month to start this project... jeez. (I've already tried whining and it's no use.....)I'm off to pick up a paint brush in my poor Carpal tunnel-afflicted hand (this excuse didn't work, either), so I'll be back in a couple of days with pictures of the finished project.
Just keep telling yourself it'll be worth it once it's finished!!!
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be a proper project unless it was super hot! We always seem to do our honey harvest on the hottest day of the year. It feels like work then!

I agree with valleygirl. Just keep thinking about the beauty of the finished product.
Also, on really bad days, you can always think, "This is only one day in my life." Repeat as necessary. ~smile~

Oh, Babe, doesn't it seem they always need our help with the most horrendous chores in the worst weather? I have to agree with the others, though. The finished project is where our thoughts lie. It will be outstandingly beautiful for so much longer than it takes to do the job. And you are sooooo lucky that he cares about this chore. So many guys would say just let it go another year and then it would be several and it would be beyond redoing... Yes, in the end, you are just lucky......SMILE!

ReplyDeleteWhen we do projects like that, I always take before and after pictures. I need something to look at and think "Wow, we did good!" hee hee.

ReplyDeleteI'll be honest~we let our cedar boards that are on part of our house weather naturally, just so we wouldn't have to do that sort of job! My in-laws have stain on theirs and it looks so nice.

ReplyDeleteAhh bless your heart - wood is beautiful but needs maintenance so your DH is right (doggone it). If you put your whole body into it it counts as a workout? as if you needed more work right?
ReplyDeleteMy DH is mellowing with years - we didn't do a thing that was real work for Labor Day - miracles DO happen dear friend - just believe (I'm laughing here - sorry - I'll be more sympathetic I promise!)
I do not envy you that job one little bit! But in the end you will have so much to be happy about(once the job is finished that is! ;)
