My all-time favorite book as a child was Charlotte's Web..... I loved the story of cunning little spider Charlotte and her friend Wilbur the pig. To this day I remember certain parts of the book even though it's been years since I've read it- like Fern pleading for her dad to spare the little runt piglet because "he couldn't help being born small!" and Wilbur getting his "buttermilk bath" for the county fair. I especially identified with Fern because at the time I was introduced to the book, she and I were the same age.
(8 years old.)
I was out with my camera one morning this week trying to get some pictures of the sunrise and happened upon some amazing webs draped with mist from the morning's fog. I stopped for a minute to snap a few pictures, and then smiled.... I never see a spider web (or walk into one.... *ugh*) that I don't think about Charlotte writing the words "Some Pig" and "Terrific" in her web. And even though I've never been a big fan of spiders (other than Charlotte), I can't help but be fascinated by their delicate, silky masterpieces.
Happy Friday, everyone!
Good Morning Paula, Great pictures of these elaborate webs! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am TERRIFIED of spiders, but always amazed at those fancy webs they weave, so pretty!!! Hope you have a wonderful day Paula!
ReplyDeleteWell looky here. Your pics have sent Charlotte's Web across the internet.
ReplyDeleteI had a pesky spider that built a web at my feed shed doors. Almost every morning I got 'glued'. Maybe I finally run it off; for I haven't been attacked lately.
Wonderful photos...I have tried many times to photograph spider webs...it is not that easy!
ReplyDeleteThose pics would make good backgrounds on the PC. I'm always amazed at how fast they spin those little wonders that I always walk into.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos!! You've captured their beauty just perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI used to watch the movie with my little grandson, and now when I hear the music, I get emotional.
Your title made me think you were writing about me and my poor doll. :) Thanks for you comments on her. Charlotte
I think you have lots of "Charlottes" on your place! Beautiful works of art!
ReplyDeleteSpider webs are so hard to photograph. Yours are beautiful!!
ReplyDeletethat was one of my favorite books in my world too. i could so relate to sitting quietly with animals instead of humans... :)
ReplyDeleteI love finding those beautiful lacey webs the spiders make. Have a wonderful weekend Paula!
ReplyDelete(sorry, noticed a spelling mistake I just couldn't leave uncorrected!!)
ReplyDeleteI love catching shots like those, too. GREAT job!! I especially like the first one. I don't mind spiders outside (you know, where they BELONG!!), but inside....
{{shudder}} they really give me the heebie-jeebies!!!
Aren't there a lot of different kinds of spiders? Many living in my home!So many webs and the way they build them. All works of art!
ReplyDeleteThe dew only inhances the patterns and you have done a great job of taking their likeness.
Deb
Lily thinks just like me in the mornings! Let me sleep in!
ReplyDeleteYou know, spiders build these bigger webs to prove to us that a cold snap is on the way and soon. Caterpillars are another predictor. Insects are the most reliable weather predictor.
Mice are moving, too. All are looking to fill their pantries for winter.
It is drizzling here and barely 50 but I am loving it. Glad those 3 digit days are past for another year.
Love Charlotte's Web. I have watched it more times than I can count and it is always enchanting.
Hugs for James....
Warmest autumn blessings,
★Linda★
What great pictures! I know its hard to catch them just right; I've tried many times. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos....we like to have spiders around the garden..but as we get black widows and brown recluse, have to approach them carefully....
ReplyDeleteI hate spiders (except Charolette)
ReplyDeleteI want to tell you that you got some really great photos.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs
Awesome pictures of the webs! We had a writing spider, like Charlotte, on our porch. I love watching them but don't want them on me. The ones on the ground are such fun to play with. Put a bug at the entrance of their 'tunnel' and watch them come out and grab it. Patty H.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember reading that one, but I do marvel at the web creations I've seen Spiders make...ingenious creatures. :o)
ReplyDeleteSuch great pictures, and I loved Charlotte's Web, too! We have these HUGE spiders down here in Florida that build these webs out in the woods that span from tree to tree. Like Mike said, I've gotten "glued" many times!!!!
ReplyDeleteI was at an art show once, and this lady had a magnificant display of spider webs. She took spray paint (silver or gold), sprayed the web, then carefully brought a piece of mounted black velvet up to the web and they stuck. I always wondered how many she lost by not getting it right. But framed, they were awesome!!!! I always think of that when I see photos like yours --- like strands of silver!!!!
I love your photos of the spider webs.
ReplyDeleteKay
Oh, geesh, I still shed a tear or two when my daughter and I watch Charlotte's Web... Love your pics of the dew laden spider webs
ReplyDeleteAutumn's Blessings,
Traci
It's always amazed me that something as pretty as these webs could come from a spider...A couple of the webs you photograped looked like beautiful doilies....
ReplyDeleteWow! What beauty AND variety! I love Charlotte, too. What a great post. =D
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the beauty of the spider's web.Like you, I am not a fan of spiders ( they scare me) and this is the time of year I seem to constantly be running into spider webs, then shivering & shaking as I check to make sure the spider is not on me.I seem to get spider webs in my eyelashes every day now...what's with that? However, I still appreciate the beauty and amazing delicacy that can still trap a large insect, woven by a spider.Makes me glad there aren't spiders able to weave and spin a web big enough to catch me.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures.
Such beauty in a web! Those are great pictures!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful---like works of art. Have a blessed weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. A bazillion years ago, I saw where a man spray painted boards black and while still wet, went behind the webs and stuck them to the boards. I've always wanted to try that ;-)
ReplyDelete'All things, great and small, the Lord loves them all.'
ReplyDeleteFunny, we were just talking about 'Charlotte's Web' the other day. My daughter just remembered when she died. Hmmm...maybe she needs to read the book again, or watch the movie.
Have a great weekend!
Wow! You did a fabulous job of capturing those beautiful webs. I too love Charlotte, but could do without all those others that seem to be spinning their webs all around our outdoor space. We have some huge spiders right now. I think they are just decorating early for halloween...
ReplyDeleteLove the webs, hope you didn't run into the owners. I'm terrified of spiders. Those webs are hanging around my house too, this time of year. I hate walking across the porch in the morning and getting tangled in one. I feel like the spider is on me too..
ReplyDeleteWow!!! What kind makes that fluffy one?? Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteI'm in Ruidoso, NM this week and won't return to central Texas until Friday... I'm playing catch-up on my IPad!

We watched Charlette Web just the other day. Such a sweet movie and book. I am always fascinated by a spider's web. They are so intricut sp? and beautiful. Hope you have a great week :-)
ReplyDeleteThose are some great shots of webs. We have a few around here that are huge. I avoid them so I can see where that spider is...hopefully not in my hair! I loved Charlotte's Web and hopefully when I become a grandmother I can read it to a grandbaby and they will Wilbur and Charlotte as much as we all did. Give Lily a hug from Lucy!
ReplyDeleteOhhh what tangled webs we weave but none as beautiful as the spider's web glistening with dew!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are just beautiful sweetie. Homes any Charlotte would be thrilled with. I love the story!
God bless ya from the happy hills and hollers of the Missouri Ponderosa and have a most beautiful day!!! :o)
Spiders and spider webs kind of give me the creeps, lol. Richard
ReplyDeleteGreat picture! blessings,Kathleen
ReplyDeleteHi Paula...
ReplyDeleteIt's been a LONG time, huh? I'm just doing my best to hold the fort down around here and keep things plugging along as smoothly as possible. Your pictures are GORGEOUS! I've always been fascinated with the webs spiders create...such artistry.
Happy fall everyone. Richard
