Happy 4th of July!

I guess this is proof that even though you're broody,
you can still celebrate Independence Day...

Unfortunately, it's so hot and dry here that any "cooking out" will be done indoors this year...
and there will be no firework displays- they've all been cancelled until we get rain.

Lots of things are going on around here right now;
I just finished shearing all the sheep last week right
before the record 100+ degree temperatures arrived,
and now we are right in the middle of harvesting honey from the bees.
Hopefully I can post about everything soon, but until then,
I'm going to try to spend a few days getting caught up with all my blog friends.

Stay cool wherever you are and have a Happy 4th of July!

  2. It is a HOT one. We are suppose to reach 100 here today. At least we had 20 minutes of rain yesterday which helped the corn fields.
    Enjoy your day!

  6. Now how smart you are to put a hat on this chick!! Cute!

    No fireworks here either, or cookouts ~ hot dogs on the George Foreman grill. :)

    Have a happy fourth!

  7. Love the patriotic hat you added to your chicken's photo. We are not used to this kind of heat here in the northeast. An inside BBQ sounds like the right idea. Have a wonderful 4th.

  17. Such a cute photo! Hope you had a great Fourth, Paula. Wow, you had quite the job getting the sheep sheared before the temps rose, and now working on the bee hives! Glad you liked my post about the agave! I need some kind of cane crusher to extract the sweet juice from the agave canes in spring and also the sorghum cane I plan to grow. Any suggestions for something small-scale and relatively inexpensive?
