Hubby was not happy.
Poor Hubby.
We have had 11 days of rain and very little sunshine. The garden has flooded twice- looks like we will be re-planting our beans. My tomato plants have started wilting, too- too much water around the roots and not enough sunshine.
Farm Chick Paula is not happy either.
On a happier note, we are out of the drought we've been in for three years, so I'll not complain. (Too much.) And I'm really excited about my little apple and pear trees- this is what I found this morning....
Several of you commented on my last post about Daisy and Edie's wool and asked what I did with it- and to be perfectly honest, I've never done anything with it... until now. I've always wanted to try felting, so with some careful shearing this time, (I'm getting better at it, just still VERY SLOW) and some wonderful advice from my friend Kathy from Cedar Pond, I'm going to attempt to clean and felt their beautiful grayish-black colored wool. I'll let you know how I do for my first attempt.
Oh, and it seems the little one-egg game is still going on up at the banty coop. Apparently, whoever's bottom touches the egg last before it hatches will be the winner. (And the momma.)

We have had nothing but rain here too for days and days and days on end. We too were in a huge drought so the rain is welcome though, I am ready for some sunshine. The rain can come once or twice a week....that would be just perfect!!!

The rain has been a little stressful for me too. We were lucky to plant before most of the rain came. Most of our garden is doing great. There are a few things that just don't seem to be coming up.

We've had our share of rain around here, too, but we've had a drought going on since last summer, so it's welcomed! You always make life on a farm sound like such fun!!!

ReplyDeletecrazy chickens - maybe they are suffering rain in the house crazies? sorry about the Plow Day - but breaking a drought is a big thing! We have not had normal rainfall this year and are a tad concerned going into warm weather - not a thing we can do about it, My containerized garden is nothing to blog about - looks pitiful with no real heat to get those tomatoes moving and squash making some plants. I have one squash plant with three small leaves and one HUGE blossom. Nature is a bit askew this spring

Lots of rain here too but we don't have a large veg. garden like you do. So far, no real damage here. Hoping you have a better week.

We've finally warmed up a little in Utah.
I heard about all the rain and wondered about your garden.....we could use some but other than that, its nice here....in the 80s today. Love the apple and pear photos....our apple tree is just starting to bloom...the cold snap we had in February really confused the trees....

Glad the drought has come to an end, but that is too bad about the plowing and the plants that are suffering from too much water at the roots.

Oh, poor hubby..you really captured that! We've had so much rain here as well. I hope that your garden can make a come back. Please keep us posted on who gets to be the momma - wow they are so scary.

Looking forward to seeing what you create from your wool....if nothing else you can turn the clean wool into batting for quilts! I am toying with using a lot of mine for just that, and making wool lap blankets.

ReplyDeleteOh, Paula, I know how you feel about the rain. We've had our share of it too in Chattanooga. Sometimes I wonder if the sun is every going to shine again. But, I shouldnt complain because you know around these parts that about July and August everything dries up and we get a drought.

We've had the rain too-and like you-can't plant in the rain. We did get some sun for the past 2 days and have finally got most everything else planted. Hopefully you did too!!
